The Importance of Enjoying Yourself with Dr. Rachel Allyn

Dr. Rachel Allyn  40:44

Yeah. And not not only like, Oh, we got a face, we have to face this stuff. Yes, sometimes it can. It can be hard work. But really also it can be to be awake, to be awakened and really to know ourselves to be integrated. I mean, it’s also really it’s a pleasurable, joyful, wonderful thing as well. I mean, it’s, it’s actually much better than the alternative of sleepwalking kind of trance like being disconnected. But yeah, I mean, look at how this past week of for anybody who watched the morning shows, I mean, Prince Harry talking about his work and, you know, in psychotherapy, and doing work and how, you know, it’s, it’s something that is, hopefully we’re connecting, we’re seeing it as a sign of wisdom. It’s a wise person who knows when to have some psychological help, and that sort of just the grin and Barrett buckled down. Just always be stoic method actually does not work. It can make things worse in the long run. If we don’t really tend to these things. I need attention.

Dr. Russell Strickland  41:44

Yeah, absolutely. Well, Dr. Alan, thank you so much for being here with us today. I’d like to ask you, if folks wanted to find out more about this body fullness and and maybe get the book, those sorts of things. What’s the best way to reach you? How can they How can they stay in touch,

Dr. Rachel Allyn  42:03

I have my website, which is Dr. Rachel Allen, calm I my in my professional Instagram is also Dr. Rachel Allen and, and then through my website, it can lead you to the book, which also has its own website, which is the pleasure is all yours book.com. I also have a TEDx talk, if you Google my name, the title is called pleasure to the people, which I actually have a I’m not getting into the clothing industry, but I do have shirts you can buy. That’s a pleasure to the people. And those are kind of fun. But that’s a 12 minute TEDx talk. And, yeah, and then on my website,

Dr. Russell Strickland  42:41

By the way, we’ve had a lot of people who are TEDx speakers, and they’ve had different reactions to that experience. What was that experience of doing the TEDx talk like for you?

Dr. Rachel Allyn  42:52

Well, what I loved about it is as a solopreneur, working primarily by myself, I love that there were these other people that I respected in the community that chose my work, were interested in my work and they coach they actually that coach you, you meet with them a few times, to just get pointers and reflection, and they believe in your work. So just getting that support was great. And then I love public speaking. So for me, that was not the problem. However, I do well, more off the cuff spontaneous. I do events where there’s, you know, maybe just people raising hands questions in the moment, but with the TEDx talk, you have to memorize what you’re going to say so well, that it seems as if you haven’t memorized at all. So for me, the hardest part, quite honestly, was just that, like, you need to know this, you know, backwards and forwards. And just sort of, you know, be able to engage with the audience, but it’s an honor to be able to share that out into the world. I mean, what what, you know, I uniquely believe so it’s great. It’s fun.

Dr. Russell Strickland  43:53

Yeah. Some of the things you mentioned, I hear over and over again, the memorization as being a little bit of a, I think so many of us like to be kind of extemporaneous, or at least like to think that we are that that’s that’s been something I’ve heard of a few people mentioned. So again, the book is The pleasure is all yours and it’s available on presale right now. Best way to get to it is through your website, Dr. Rachel Allen, calm. And we will have all of this for those of you guys who are listening and you don’t have paper to take notes.
