The Dissertation Coin Flip

Jeremy Weisz  10:01

Now I know, Dr. Strickland, people come to you in different circumstances, different points in their curriculum and everything like that. So if it doesn’t make sense to talk about it, let me know. But is there a range that people should think about? Okay, that they should invest in this insurance policy, when they come to dissertation done? They may be a different starting places. So I don’t know if that makes sense or not, but I’ll let you.

Dr. Russell Strickland  10:26

Yeah, it’s so it depends on where they are in the process. And obviously, you know, things change over time. With with us with our programs and the investment levels that we require. That does change over time. I always tell folks to start as early as possible, because you’ll finish sooner, the earlier you get help. And that includes you might be still taking classes or just having started your dissertation not having a single word written down pertaining to your dissertation or proposal or perspectives or 10 strategic points. So there’s all these documents that various schools and departments ask folks to create prior to the actual dissertation itself, doesn’t matter where you are in the process, the sooner you start, the quicker you’ll finish. But just as a way of thinking about it, this should be an investment and it, we look at it as it needs to pay off for you, financially, monetarily, as well as in terms of your frustration levels, your comfort level, lowering your stress level and getting you to graduation quicker. So we’re going to save you a year or two on your time to graduation, then, you know, we’re talking about something less than a year’s tuition. That’s already a good investment, not to mention all of the other opportunity cost and personal cost and so forth, that we’re talking about. But it really, as I said, it depends on a variety of factors. It’s not a cheap thing. It’s expensive. It’s something that everybody looks at and says Well, I see the value but and has to take a little bit of time to, to, to come to grips with the fact that yes, I’m getting one on one assistance. We can After we all the way through this process and I’m guaranteeing myself that I’m gonna graduate, that’s what we’re talking about.

So I want to point people towards www.dissertationdone.com, I don’t know if there’s any final words or last put now places to point people to or any final words with the coin flip.

Dr. Russell Strickland  12:16

Well, so the coin flip, I mean, there’s a lot, a lot of stuff there. I’m sure I’ll talk about in various episodes when I, when I speak with students one on one, we talk about a lot of things that are important. Regarding that coin flip, there is this magical place where you can get to in the dissertation process, and it’s way before you’re done, when you hit what I call a tipping point. And the coin flip goes from being kind of 50/50 to essentially 100% you’re gonna graduate. So we really talk about stress, getting students that magical tipping point, I can talk to you about that one on one if you like.
