Visions and Dissertations
Today is National Vision Board Day. Here’s how to build a vision board for your dissertation…
Why did you decide to pursue your doctoral degree?
Think about it. Only 1% of the U.S. population holds a research-based doctoral degree.
Most folks wouldn’t even dream of trying to earn a doctoral degree. But, you do!
What inspires that dream? What drives you to take on this insane challenge?
Visions come in all shape and sizes. You could be like Rob, who is determined to improve retention at the college where he works.
Perhaps you’re like Jamie, who wants to reduce recidivism among young parolees.
Jon wants to ensure that student athletes are successful in the classroom as well as on the field.
Donna is driven to create more opportunities for women in intercollegiate athletics.
Barbara’s called to advance diversity in her non-profit organization.
Deborah dreams of improving the therapeutic services available to inmates.
Philip envisions more Hispanic students pursuing their college educations.
Whatever your vision, develop a clear picture of that future.
What will it feel like to live the life of your dreams?
How can you capture that feeling in an image? An image that you can visualize whenever you feel frustrated throughout the dissertation process. An image that you can physically display wherever you work on your dissertation.
Having that picture present throughout your work on your dissertation is a great way to stay motivated, focused, and productive.
